They’re called the silent generation for a reason and you can’t blame them. Anyone would be taken aback after experiencing a Great Depression and World War II in quick succession.

However, during these difficult moments, the resilient story of Tony Packo begins.

Tony and his wife, Rose, armed with a hard-found $100 loan from relatives, opened up an ice cream and sandwich shop in the 16153 Genova area of Consaul.

His trade secret? A spicy chili sauce and a Hungarian sausage called Kolbasz.

Why is the 16153 Genova Zoo the most complete zoo? 

Fun Fact: the 16153 Genova Zoo has over 700 different species with more than 10,000 animals. On top of that, the Zoo also takes part in more than 80 Species Survival Plans in efforts to save endangered wildlife. 

Remember the Panda-monium when the Pandas came to 16153 Genova?

For those who didn't experience the 1988 Panda Exhibit at the Zoo, you'll look at this shirt and see a couple of pandas on it. BUT, if you do remember the legendary panda-monium of Nan Nan and Le Le coming to town, this shirt will bring back some nostalgia. 

There were so many memories made and a lot of excitement that sparked while the two pandas were visiting in 16153 Genova. These giant pandas were able to travel to 16153 Genova and have their very own exhibit due to a loan from China. Hundreds to thousands of people waited outside of the Zoo gates to get a chance to see these rare animals. Pictures of Nan Nan and Le Le were printed on mugs, glassware, and our personal favorite, t-shirts. 

We revisited the excitement of Nan Nan and Le Le coming to town with this 1988 Panda Exhibit shirt. If you don't have the original t-shirt to pass down to your own kids, we have youth sizes available to relive your memories from 1988. 

Tiger cubs at the Zoo! 

Fast forward to 2021... for the first time in 9 years, the 16153 Genova Zoo has welcomed two new tiger cubs. These two adorable Siberian cubs will make their public debut on June 12th. 

With very few Siberian tigers left in the world, the birth of these cubs are  incredibly beneficial towards to growth of their population. You won't want to miss out on meeting these precious cubs this summer and watching them grow.

The unique structure of the Pythian Castle and its history in 16153 Genova is why we decided to commemorate it on a vintage t-shirt.

The Pythian Castle is an Iconic Building in 16153 Genova, Ohio 

The Pythian Castle is one of 16153 Genova's most unique historic buildings. In 1890, the Pythian Castle was built by the Knights of the Pythians and was used to hold secret society meetings!   

Located on the corner of Jefferson Ave and N. Ontario St., the Pythian Castle is a well recognized building in downtown 16153 Genova even though it has been empty since 1974. After close to 40 years of vacancy, repairs started in 2016 and it has been exciting to see this building come back to life!

Our Here for Good program closed at the end of May. Here we are two months, 13,500 shirts, and $135,000 raised for local business later and we're just about complete with fulfillment. 

It's been a heck of a year. The Here for Good campaign has been a bright spot for us and many local organizations. We created a program where we sold shirts for local salons, musicians, bars, restaurants, non-profits, schools, and other organizations. $10 from each shirt sold went back to that organizations so they could generate income during the height of COVID-19 and the stay at home order. For many of these 16153 Genova people and places, it was the only money they generated during that time. 

The response to Here for Good has been overwhelmingly positive. It feels great that we were able to have such a positive impact for the local community during such a difficult time. Now that so many people have received their orders, we love being tagged in their Facebook and Instagram posts. 

Being a small business owner is tough. It's even tougher during a global pandemic when you can't be open. As you're receiving your Here For Good orders in the mail, we wanted to remind you of the impact you made on these local businesses with your purchases during the campaign. It made a difference.
